When I attended my first Gamblers Anonymous meeting, I had no clue what to expect. Here’s a quick overview of a typical Gamblers Anonymous meeting so you can feel more comfortable attending your first meeting.

The Format

First Half

A typical Gamblers Anonymous meeting, the first half of the meeting is spent reading from the yellow combo book and a reading from the A Day at a Time Meditation Book. The yellow combo book contains all of the readings from that can be found on the Gamblers Anonymous website, including:

If you are attending for the first time, you will be asked to answer the 20 questions.

Second Half

The second half of a Gamblers Anonymous meeting is reserved for personal therapy. This gives all attendees a chance to talk about their week, reflect on past experiences, and share their story with the group.

Duration

The length of a Gamblers Anonymous meeting will vary based on the number of attendees. Expect a typical meeting to last between 50-70 minutes.
